Layer: Census Blocks (ID: 2)

Name: Census Blocks

Display Field: HD_NAME

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: Blocks are typically bounded by streets, roads or creeks. In cities, a census block may correspond to a city block, but in rural areas where there are fewer roads, blocks may be limited by other features.ImportantThe Census Bureau mistakenly merged Census Tract 1370.00 into Tract 8002.04 in the 2010 census, and released block level data tables with that mistake. This mistake was corrected in 2011, however the data tables (SF1, etc) were not updated to reflect this change. For this file, the CT10 field and the CTCB10 fields reflect the original 2010 data, and include that mistake. In 2012, the Census Bureau further complicated matters by merging Tract 9304.01 into Tract 1370.00. The CT12 field reflects this update, which is also reflected in the CENSUS_TRACTS_2010 and the CENSUS_BLOCK_GROUPS_2010 datasets.
