These boundaries were created by modeling the potential distribution of the species along stream reaches selected by staff biologists based upon known occurrence data, vegetation, substrate, and stream slope information. The model identifies areas within 80 vertical feet of the stream using Digital Elevation Model Data (DEM). The output of the model (at 30 meter pixel resolution) was edited based upon land use (as depicted in aerial imagery) and staff biologists knowledge of habitat in the areas identified by the model.
